Accessibility Statement
Altergy Network Solutions Corp. is committed to ensuring that our website and platform are accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. This Accessibility Statement outlines our practices, commitments, and the steps we take to provide an inclusive digital experience.
1. Our Commitment to Accessibility
Altergy Network Solutions Corp. is committed to making our website and platform accessible to all users, including people with disabilities. We believe that digital accessibility is a fundamental right and an essential part of delivering inclusive business services.
We strive to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), as the standard for digital accessibility in Canada. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, and neurological disabilities.
We also align our practices with the Accessible Canada Act and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), where applicable to our business operations.
2. Accessibility Measures We Take
To achieve and maintain accessibility, we implement the following measures:
- Semantic HTML: Our pages are built with valid, semantic HTML that supports screen readers and assistive technologies.
- Keyboard navigation: All interactive elements can be accessed and operated using a keyboard, without requiring a mouse.
- Color contrast: Text and interactive elements meet WCAG 2.1 AA contrast ratios (minimum 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text) against their backgrounds, including in all states such as hover and focus.
- Alt text: Images and non-text content include alternative text descriptions where meaningful.
- Form labels: All form fields have associated labels and instructions, and error messages are announced to assistive technologies.
- Responsive design: Our pages adapt to different screen sizes and zoom levels up to 200% without loss of content or functionality.
- Focus indicators: Visible focus outlines are maintained on all interactive elements to help keyboard users track their position.
- ARIA landmarks: Pages use ARIA landmark roles to define navigation, main content, and footer regions for screen reader users.
- Reduced motion: We respect user preferences for reduced motion where operating system settings indicate this preference.
3. Known Limitations
While we strive for full accessibility, we recognize that some areas of the platform may not yet fully conform to WCAG 2.1 AA. Known limitations include:
- Third-party embeds: Content embedded from third-party services (such as external video or document viewers) may not fully conform to our accessibility standards, as we do not control their code.
- Complex data tables: Some analytics and reporting views within the platform use complex data presentations that may be difficult to navigate with screen readers. We are working on simplified alternative views.
- Dynamic content updates: Some real-time updates (such as new messages or notifications) may not always be announced to screen readers immediately. We are improving live region announcements for these features.
- Historical content: Some legacy pages and help articles may not yet have been updated to current accessibility standards.
If you encounter an accessibility barrier that is not listed here, please report it so we can address it promptly.
4. Compatibility with Assistive Technologies
We test our website and platform with the following assistive technologies:
- NVDA (NonVisual Desktop Access) screen reader on Windows
- JAWS screen reader on Windows
- VoiceOver screen reader on macOS and iOS
- TalkBack screen reader on Android
- Dragon NaturallySpeaking voice control software
- Windows high contrast mode and macOS high contrast settings
We aim to support the current and prior major versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. If you use an assistive technology that is not listed and experience difficulty accessing our Services, please contact us.
5. Reporting Accessibility Issues
We welcome feedback on the accessibility of our website and platform. If you encounter an accessibility barrier, have difficulty using a feature, or have a suggestion for improvement, please contact us:
- Email: info@altergy.ca
- Please include "Accessibility Feedback" in the subject line and describe the issue, the page URL, and the assistive technology you are using.
We will acknowledge your report within five (5) business days and provide an estimated timeline for resolution where applicable.
6. Alternative Formats and Communication Support
Upon request, Altergy will provide documents and communications in accessible alternative formats at no additional cost. Available formats include:
- Large print versions of printed materials
- Screen-reader-compatible electronic documents
- Plain language summaries of complex documents
- Text descriptions of visual content
We will work with you to determine the most appropriate format and will provide it within a reasonable timeframe, typically within fifteen (15) business days of the request.
7. Ongoing Evaluation
Accessibility is an ongoing process. We regularly evaluate our website and platform through:
- Automated accessibility scanning to detect technical compliance issues.
- Manual keyboard-only testing of key user flows.
- Screen reader testing of critical features such as registration, invoicing, and project management.
- User feedback integration to identify real-world barriers that automated testing may miss.
We commit to remediating accessibility issues identified through these processes according to their severity and impact on users.
